Assignment 2A - Jorge Vasquez & jodelle Theronier

As architects we are trained to design buildings, however, often times we forget to design/sculpt one of the most important elements known to us, our bodies. We forget that long lasting buildings are influenced and built along the lines of our bodies to make them more enjoyable, scalable and proportional.

It is why we propose that as architects we explore, engage and sculpt our bodies, in the form of the sport of bodybuilding in order to become more self-aware, in the process, allowing us to translate ideas into the realm of architecture.

However, getting involve is not easy and there are potential risks in the form of injuries, one of the common being lower back pain. Such reasons, it is why we propose to design/create a unique 3D printed lifting belt that will not only provide support to the back but will almost complement the aesthetic features of the sport.

Through research on the body and different muscle groups, we gather influence and inspiration from the largest muscle in the upper body, the latissimus dorsi. By closely studying its function, we were able to gather elements for our wearable that will begin in the lower back and spread upwards creating support when performing heavy compound movements.

The Wearable will not only serve a functionality but can also be used as a fashion accessory that can potentially revolutionize bodybuilding competitions.
