Since its inception neck ties have been a decorative article of clothing. It was an interesting look in the 17th century and it evolved quite a bit, yet not much has changed in the past 100 years. Drawing inspiration from stranger figs, a tie could be a literal constriction around one’s neck. Even going as far as taking over the human body. Depending on the individual, the scheme of the strangler tie could become protective gear or remain an elegant and interesting tie as it was intended in the 17th century, but with a modern interpretation.
The course will develop a series of coordinated exercises to allow the students to understand, use and control advanced geometries, 3D design skills and methods of digital fabrication, which they can incorporate seamlessly in studio.
