Richard Townsend, Jose Moreno - Midterm

As this design progressed we have modified our intentions for the piece. Initially it was meant to be a brace, but we have shifted to more of an exoskeleton that can act as a brace or as body armor and a body stabilizer. It would be a rigid material, but flexible material that can keep the torso of the body stable and could possibly be covered or made of materials that could at as armor, or the base for an armor skin. The material would flex in order to conform to the body of the owner, but keep them supported.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT EVR 5176 RICHARD TOWNSEND + JOSE MORENO

INITIAL SKETCHES THE ORIGINAL IDEA CONSISTED OF A BACK BRACE THAT WOULD CONFORM TO THE BODY FOR PEOPLE THAT SUFFER FROM SCOLIOSIS AND WOULD BE MODELED AFTER THE HUMAN ANATOMY. WEARABLE AS THE WEARABLE PROGRESSED WE DECIDED TO CONFORM THE TENSION BANDS THAT MAKE UP THE WEARABLE TO THE MUSCLES OF THE BODY.  PAVILION     THE PAVILIONS ORIGINAL FORM WAS BASED OFF A CURVED SPINE MUCH LIKE A PERSON WHO SUFFERS FROM SCOLIOSIS AND THE "RIBBED" ELEMENTS HELP ENCLOSE THE SPACE IN ORDER TO MIMIC THE HUMAN ANATOMY.
