Assignment 3.A (Updated) Martha Morales and Yenifer Cordoba

The idea was to follow the structure from the wearable (Shoulder line contour) and create a space of interaction and relaxation with a pattern similar to water ripples in order to create the experience of been under the water. The pattern of the frame will create this illusion though the use of light and shadows. Some pavilion inspirations were used through the process.

"ICD/ITKE Research Pavilion 2014-15by The Institute for Computational Design (ICD) and the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) of the University of Stuttgart (Germany), in Stuttgart, Germany. The Institute for Computational Design (ICD) and the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) of the University of Stuttgart (Germany) are known for their full-scale bionic research pavilions’ experiments, computational design, robotic fabrication strategies, functional integration, and material efficiency. One of the most recent structures at the university is the 2014-15 Research Pavilion, which demonstrates the architectural potential of a novel building method inspired by the underwater nest construction of the diving bell water spider, Agyroneda aquatica."

FINAL ASSIGNMENT EVR 5176 RICHARD TOWNSEND + JOSE MORENO

INITIAL SKETCHES THE ORIGINAL IDEA CONSISTED OF A BACK BRACE THAT WOULD CONFORM TO THE BODY FOR PEOPLE THAT SUFFER FROM SCOLIOSIS AND WOULD BE MODELED AFTER THE HUMAN ANATOMY. WEARABLE AS THE WEARABLE PROGRESSED WE DECIDED TO CONFORM THE TENSION BANDS THAT MAKE UP THE WEARABLE TO THE MUSCLES OF THE BODY.  PAVILION     THE PAVILIONS ORIGINAL FORM WAS BASED OFF A CURVED SPINE MUCH LIKE A PERSON WHO SUFFERS FROM SCOLIOSIS AND THE "RIBBED" ELEMENTS HELP ENCLOSE THE SPACE IN ORDER TO MIMIC THE HUMAN ANATOMY.
